1-3 Fatima - Jennifer StraderStep out of your regular lunch hour routine and organize a one-hour Lunch Rush Food Cart Tour! These one-hour private tour explorations will give you a taste of the ins and outs of the mobile food vending industry from people who’ve been following it for years – and we’ll have you back at your desk in time for afternoon meetings. Along the way, you will get three hefty mini-meals from different food carts and trucks, learn about the vendors and the industry, and have the most amazing lunch break of your life.

Turnstile Tours offers lunch rush tours to private groups along Park Avenue (in the upper 40’s and low 50’s), Sixth Avenue (in the 40’s and low 50’s), or in the Financial District (around Water St and Maiden Lane), so you are bound to find a tour a short distance from your office.  Each week will also focus on one theme in all three neighborhoods, from spicy delights to international sandwiches, the best of the Vendys to the best street meat.  At least 5% of all ticket sales for these tours will be donated by Turnstile Tours to support the good work of our friends at the Street Vendor Project.

1 hour, 1–2pm

The meeting location for each tour will vary. When you go to purchase your tickets, the exact meeting location will be displayed in your reservation before you purchase, and it will be contained in your confirmation email. We will be offering one tour per week for four weeks in the following neighborhoods:

Eat Street Meat •

This tour explores the most popular dish on the streets today from three very different vendors who are putting their own spin on chicken and lamb over rice. Learn how vendors from all corners of the world make this simple protein and rice dish so special.

Sandwich Days •

The greatest thing since sliced bread is… well, sliced bread. Explore the contents in between the bread on this tour that forgoes one measly sandwich for samples of three from around the world.

Bring the Heat

This is not a tour for those with weak tastebuds. While most food carts will tame the heat for sensitive palettes, the flavors shine when the peppers heat up. These three carts will make you beg for a glass of milk.

Vendys Spotlight

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Vendy Awards, which honor the hard work and delicious food of New York City’s street vendors. On this tour, we’ll visit past Vendy nominees, including some Vendy Cup, Rookie of the Year, and People’s Taste winners.

SVPAt least 5% off all sales of Turnstile Tours’ Food Cart Tours is donated to support the work of the Street Vendor Project, a membership-based non-profit organization that works to protect the rights of vendors.
