Welcome to the Brooklyn Navy Yard Fall Open House, part of Open House New York 2024!
Founded in 1801 as a naval shipyard, the US Navy closed the facility in 1966. Today, the Brooklyn Navy Yard is a 300-acre industrial park owned by the City of New York and managed by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, whose mission is to use this site to create good-quality jobs for local people across a range of industries. The Yard is home to over 550 businesses and 11,000 jobs. On Saturday, October 19, more than 40 of those businesses scattered across a dozen buildings open their doors to the public for you to explore.
As you explore the Yard, you can play our Scavenger Hunt! Throughout the Yard, you will find 15 markers that highlight different aspects of the Yard’s past, present, and future. You can check in at these markers to learn more, and if you check in at all of them, you can win a prize!
For teams that complete all 15 check-ins, we will be offering a choice of either a Brooklyn Navy Yard swag bag or a gift certificate to Rustik Tavern, while supplies last.
