Brooklyn Grange is a working commercial farm that also hosts events, designs and builds green roofs, and promotes sustainable living. The Grange produces over 50,000 pounds of produce annually, as well as honey and their famous hot sauce, which is sold to local restaurants, markets, and through their community-supported agriculture program. They currently operate two farms, the one-acre Flagship Farm in Long Island City, Queens, and the 1.5-acre farm atop Building 3 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Both farms host both private and public events, including farm dinners, workshops, classes, educational programs, and tours. A visit to the farm is a feature of our Urban Ecology Tour, and we can include a farm visit or workshop as part of a private group experience at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The Yard location also offers public walking tours on Wednesdays, while the Queens location has an open house and tours on Saturdays throughout the growing season.
