Throughout 2013, Turnstile Tours offered a series of photography tours at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in partnership with BLDG 92. These seasonal explorations took visitors all around the Yard and gave them time to capture small details up-close or step back and set up a landscape shot. From the cranes of the shipyard to the ivy-clad buildings of the Naval Hospital, tour-goers created an amazing compendium of the Yard through the seasons.
After each of the four seasonal tours, participating photographers submitted their best shots to our photography contest, and Yard-based artists selected three finalists from among the submissions – below are those 12 finalists.
Now this is where you come in – it is time for the public to vote. The photograph that receives the most votes will win the People’s Choice Award, and the winning photographer will receive a complimentary two-hour tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard with Turnstile Tours for up to 30 people. If you would like to participate in next year’s photo contest, our first Seasonal Photography Tour of 2014 will take place Saturday, January 18 – get tickets here.
VOTING INSTRUCTIONS
To vote, simply click the “thumbs up” button below a photograph. You may vote for only one photograph, and you may vote only once from a device (computer, smartphone, iPad, etc.). These photographs are also on display at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92, and you can peruse them and cast a paper ballot in person for your favorite shot. Voting will take place until 11:59PM on Sunday, January 5. More information about the photographs, photographers, and judges is below.

Turnstile Tours offers the Seasonal Photography Tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard four times throughout the year. The first tour of the 2o14 season will be Saturday, January 18 at 11am. Get more information here, and advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. We also offer our Past, Present & Future Tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard every Saturday and Sunday 2-4pm, and other special themed tours of The Yard. All tours are offered in partnership with and begin at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92, which offers free admission to three floors of exhibitions on the yard’s past and present, the Ted & Honey rooftop cafe, and a host of great special events and programs.
