Cruise through the industrial waterways of New York Harbor around Staten Island en route to Freshkills Park—formerly the world’s largest landfill, this 2,200-acre site is being transformed into one of the city’s largest parks. Led by American Institute of Architects New York guide Andrew Gustafson and Freshkills Park Alliance staff member Andy Blancero, this tour aboard Classic Harbor Line‘s yacht Manhattan was live streamed by Ariel Viera of Urbanist: Exploring Cities. They discuss the history of Freshkills and the design and engineering that will turn 150 million tons of trash into a totally unique landscape.
